PASTORS

Rev. Leland Armbright | Administrative Pastor

480.245.9676

I was born into a military family and have had the opportunity to live in a number of places in the world. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Environmental Sciences, have received a certificate in Children, Youth, and Family Ministry from Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, and a Master’s of Divinity from Luther Seminary, Saint Paul, Minnesota. I have served the church for over 20 years in in youth ministry and pastoral ministry. Prior to serving here at Good Shepherd, I have served in congregations in Comstock and Rustad, Minnesota; Phoenix, Arizona; and Peachtree Corners, Georgia. My wife, Aleshia, and I are proud parents of four girls and enjoy watching them grow, spending time with family across the Midwest, and exploring the world.

Rev. Mike Jacobson | Visitation Pastor

605.290.6903

I was born in Cambridge, England, grew up in Hayti, SD, and survived my teen-age years in suburban Minneapolis, MN. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I attended Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary and received a Master of Divinity degree in 1972. Ordination to the ministry of Word and Sacrament at Christ Chapel, St. Peter, MN, followed on June 4th. My first two parishes were in Minnesota; followed by three in Manitoba, Canada; and two in South Dakota (Leola & Long Lake; then Tripp & Delmont). I retired June 1st of 2010 and moved to Aberdeen. Since retirement I have remained active by providing pulpit supply for several congregations and now continue to serve Good Shepherd as Visitation Pastor. In our fifty plus years of marriage Twila and I have been blessed with two sons and three daughters who have managed to compound the blessing by producing nine grandchildren. We are enjoying life at the lake and participating in the Adult Choir as well as the worship life at Good Shepherd.

Adam Baroni | Pastoral Intern

951.529.2088

My name is Adam Baroni. I am 29 years old and live in Plantation, FL, which is a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. My ethnicity is Vietnamese from my mother’s side (although she grew up in Thailand), and Caucasian from my father’s side. I was baptized Roman Catholic, but I was not raised in a religious household; yet Christ, spirituality, God, and his love were taught. In 2014 the Lord compelled me to seek out a church family after renewed interest and studies in Holy Scripture. I joined All Saints Lutheran Church in Tamarac, FL, and it has been the family that God called me too; where my faith was nurtured, and now where I am sent. The congregation and the Florida-Bahamas Synod affirm my Baptismal call to serve in Word and Sacrament, a call which I am still humbled and strengthened in to love and serve the people of God in Christ. Some of my hobbies include reading the Bible, prayer, and helping out at church and the community. I enjoy listening to music (everything from Bach, to the jazz of Jaco Pastorius, to EDM); strumming’ the guitar, watching old shows from the 20th century (everything begins and ends with Miami Vice), pumping iron at the gym, having a nice beer whilst fellowshipping, and hitting up the library-because as the adage says, “having fun isn’t hard, when you have a library card.” Thank you so much for allowing me to join your family. I really appreciate this opportunity. A part of the purpose of internship is displacement, and coming to your community will be a big change. I am excited to learn, worship, fellowship, and do ministry together. I pray that I may contribute something to your congregation, and that our time together may be fruitful. God bless you all, and much love until we meet.
