Secretary

I grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. I have two grown children, Char and Todd. I spent twelve years at Presentation College as the Administrative Secretary in the Nursing Department. Most of my spare time is spent with my grandchildren, Lance and Rachel.

Youth & Family Coordinator

I grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Northern State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with an emphasis in writing. My husband, Joe, and I have two wonderful daughters. I enjoy working with all of the members of Good Shepherd. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, running, watching movies, and attending my children’s activities.

Cheryl Ulmer

Exultation Bells Director

I grew up and graduated from Hosmer High School in 1972 and Northern State University in 1975 with a B.S. degree in Elementary & Music Education. I became involved with handbells at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge, SD in 1986 and have been the Director of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Exultation Bells since 1996.

I retired in 2023 after teaching K-12 Music and private piano lessons for 40+ years in Mobridge, Aberdeen, & Eagle Butte, SD. This affords me the ability to devote more time to my love and dedication to anything to do with handbells! I also serve as substitute director for the Shepherd’s Choir when needed.

I’m currently serving as the South Dakota representative on the Area 7 Board (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Manitoba, South Dakota) of the Handbell Musicians of America. This position gives the opportunity for Good Shepherd and myself to provide communication and leadership to area & regional bells choirs.

Custodian

I have worked at GS for 20 years. Prior to this, I worked as a custodian for Aberdeen Public Schools for 15 years. My wife Renee and I have 1 daughter and 2 sons. I enjoy hunting, motorcycle riding, and anything I can do with my family.
